Last Thursday evening, our first-ever charity ‘Canon Boules’ tournament in central Bristol’s Queen Square raised some £2,500 for Help Bristol’s Homeless CIC (HBH).
Teams from over a dozen local businesses, five event sponsors and HBH enjoyed some friendly competition, barbecue fare and fine weather while savouring the latest flavours from Jimmy’s Iced Coffee. Once DMC Canotec Group CEO Jon Hill had tallied all scores, our Canotec South West team awarded the trophy to winner Eldon Insurance Services.
A Commitment to Inclusive Growth
This sold-out event was made possible by the generous support of Blackstar Solutions, BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions, Claremont and title sponsor Canon UK. Believing that true corporate sustainability requires meaningful community engagement, we partnered with companies that, like us, support inclusive economic growth.
Solving the ‘Day-to-Day Problems of Being Homeless’
Eliminating barriers to equality and creating better opportunities for those disproportionately affected by poverty, discrimination and exploitation, we can contribute to broad-based progress in living standards and economic wellbeing. As HBH founder Jasper Thompson observes, ‘[By solving] the day-to-day problems of being homeless, […] we empower [people] to take an active role in improving their own situation’. HBH provides service users ‘a secure base’ – namely safe, stable accommodation – from which they can (re)build their lives.
What They’re Saying
As planning for next year’s tournament is already underway, DMC Account Director Richard Vinall is eagerly soliciting suggestions from clients, coworkers and other ‘Canon Boules enthusiasts’.
