Hosted by BBC Newcastle’s Alfie Joey, this year’s black-tie awards dinner will this year take place on Friday 7th October. Open to all in the business community, the EF awards ceremony is a fabulous evening of entertainment where leading business figures come together to celebrate our region’s high achievers, with the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead providing an inspirational setting for a fantastic occasion.
Awards include…
Emerging Talent (Supported by Brewin Dolphin) – An individual who is building a business of outstanding potential, which has been trading for six years or less .
Scale-up Entrepreneur of the Year (Supported by British Business Bank) – A business owner who is leading a scaling company achieving 20%+ annualised growth in either turnover, profit or employee numbers for any (but ideally all) of the past three years. We are looking for the entrepreneur who has been able to navigate the challenges brought by the pandemic and stay on course to achieve their future growth ambitions.
Mentor of the Year (Supported by Malhotra Group) – Selected for their outstanding contribution over the last twelve months to altruistically supporting fellow entrepreneurs and the growth of their businesses.
Entrepreneur of the Year (Supported by Agilico client Ward Hadaway) – An experienced entrepreneur who has shown incredible resilience and strength, particularly this past year, to lead their business to outstanding success through innovation, teamwork and leadership skills.
Lifetime Achievement – (Supported by ION) Someone who has shown huge commitment over a significant period of time and made a major impact to the regional economy.

Dress Code
The dress code for this event is ‘smart evening wear’ which could include but is not exclusive to, a tuxedo, three piece suit, evening dresses, jumpsuit, trouser suit or even a kilt!
Dinner
Starter
- Roasted vegetable tart, parmesan crust, rocket and spinach oil (v)
Main Course
- Braised confit of beef, onion mash, fine beans and bourguignon sauce
- Sweet potato and chickpea loaf, herby diced potatoes, tender stem broccoli and onion gravy (v)
Dessert
- Biscoff and coconut cheesecake with raspberry coulis (v)

Parking
Limited complimentary parking is available in the hotel multi-storey car park, which can be found below the main reception. Parking bays will be allocated on a first-come-first served basis.
Upon entering the car park please take a ticket before continuing through the barrier. If you need to leave the hotel before the awards evening has finished please insert your ticket into the pay machine and enter ‘BEIRI’, this will ensure no charges are incurred. Once you reach the barrier insert the ticket, the barrier should then lift and you are free to exit the car park.
Anyone leaving after 11pm will not need to validate their ticket as the exit barrier will be open.
Alternative parking is available at the Sage Gateshead, the BALTIC and Gateshead College, which are all approximately 5-10 minute walk from the venue.
